Education

te mana o te moana promotes environmental awareness for the public, for local populations and especially for children, through school programmes and communication material aimed at a better understanding of the local natural heritage and its fragile balance. Since the beginning in september 2004, more than 48 000 children have been awared about the necessity to protect our natural marine ecosystem.

 

Educational Programs

Marine environment preservation also, and above all, requires people’s awareness on the threats that weight down on the natural environment. Sea Turtles

Te mana o te moana has initiated various education activities to raise awareness about sea turtles’ conservation. Read more about our educational program on sea turtles “Honu Récré”, about the Honu Chest, and our educationnal tools: posters, color book, DVD, etc.

Marine mammals

The Moorea Dolphin Center, in collaboration with te mana o te moana, have developped Delphineau Recre, an educational program to learn about marine life and cetaceans, having fun with a variety of educational tools and observing the dolphins from the shore.

Coral Reefs

Te mana o te moana has several educational projects and activities focused on the lagoon and coral reefs. An underwater trail, offering incredible discoveries of the marine life hidden in the lagoon, is available, as well as an educational program called “Lagoon Adventure”, and an awareness raising campaign “Sustainable Reefs” for schools.
